June 4, 2025—Bridgeland High School sophomore Shawn Ray placed first overall in Spelling at the 2025 UIL Class 6A State Academic Meet, held May 19-20 at the University of Texas at Austin.

The Bridgeland High School spelling team placed first overall in the spelling team competition and the Cypress Woods High School computer science team placed second in the computer science team competition.

At UIL Academic competitions, students earn points by placing in different categories which add up to an overall score. Multiple CFISD students and teams placed at this year’s competition.
