The Bridgeland High School marching band placed 11th overall at the 2024 UIL Class 6A State Marching Band Championships, held Nov. 11-12 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Bridgeland, along with the Cy-Fair and Cypress Woods high schools marching bands, represented CFISD at the state contest for the third consecutive year.
“To have the opportunity to represent CFISD in finals at the UIL Class 6A State Marching Championship for the second year in a row is amazing,” said Shawn McAnear, Bridgeland head band director. “I am so proud of our team of educators, the students and community who bring to life this wonderful performance.”
All three CFISD bands performed their respective shows and joined 38 other Class 6A bands from across the state during the preliminary round of competition on Nov. 11.
The 2024 state contest marked the fifth consecutive state bids for Bridgeland and Cypress Woods and the sixth overall appearance for the Cypress Woods program. Cy-Fair competed for the third consecutive year and the eighth time in program history.
“The UIL State Marching Contest is one of the most prestigious and competitive events I the nation,” said Joe Glass, CFISD coordinator of secondary music. “Having three ensembles perform at this level is truly remarkable! I am incredibly grateful to work alongside some of the best music educators in the state, and I couldn’t be more proud of our students. Their dedication and hard work this season have been nothing short of inspiring.”
