May 13, 2025—Bridgeland High School’s UIL One-Act Play production was selected to advance to the UIL Class 6A State Competition after competing at the Region II-6A contest hosted April 26 at University High School in Waco.
By advancing to the state competition, Bridgeland’s production Confederate Letters, is among the top eight Class 6A plays in the state. Bridgeland competed in the state contest in 2023.
“We are beyond thrilled to be among the top eight Class 6A plays for the second time in the past three years,” said Adam Delka, Bridgeland head theatre director. “Achieving this accomplishment requires years of training on and off stage and it does not happen overnight. Our students have developed an incredible work ethic along with their talent. This group has also progressed through the season with incredible determination and grit. Confederate Letters is a heart-wrenching reminder of people’s suffering in hopes of a better life and future. Through stories like this, we can examine our history and learn from our past mistakes so that we can become better humans for our future. We are honored to continue telling our story with the entire state in Austin. We hope to see our CFISD supporters in the audience.”
Bridgeland will compete in the UIL Class 6A One-Act Play State Competition at 3 p.m. on May 21 at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.
