Oct. 8, 2024—Representatives from the Glaser-Swift Organization that manages two area McDonald’s restaurants visited Lee Elementary School on Oct. 3 to officially announce their Adopt-A-School partnership with the campus.

CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community organizations and business partners to utilize resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.

Elizabeth Machuca, marketing coordinator for Glaser-Swift McDonald’s, said she learned about the adoption opportunity at a recent CFISD business partner meeting. Glaser-Swift owns two nearby McDonald’s locations at 6330 N. Eldridge Parkway and 4650 Highway 6 North.

“McDonald’s is constantly looking to expand our partnership and community outreach to our local schools. This is very important to us,” Machuca said. “We realized there was an opportunity in our restaurant to communicate more with our teachers and better appreciate our kids. A lot of them come to our store, so we might as well work on a partnership with them.”

McDonald’s brought free breakfast sandwiches for all the staff, along with free cookies and a coupon for a free cheeseburger.

“It was great seeing the teachers being so excited for free food,” Pachuca said. “We want to appreciate our teachers; they’re teaching the newer generation.”

Lee enjoys an ongoing adopt-a-school partnership with the River Flows Foundation, which assists with student mentoring. Lee Principal Lauree Johnson said she looks forward to the new partner.

“What I’m told is this is the first long-term partnership with a McDonald’s in our district, and I’m hoping it sets a trend,” Johnson said. “I was so excited, and it was a nice surprise for our staff this morning. This will be a great opportunity for Lee.”
