Aug. 24, 2023—Tracy Jacobsen, director of instruction at Smith Middle School, was named the new principal at Farney Elementary School on Aug. 24. Jacobsen replaces Dr. Tricia Reilly, who was named the human resources director of professional staffing and employee relations.

Jacobsen has 22 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. She began her career in 2001 teaching first grade at Sheridan Elementary School before helping open Birkes Elementary School in 2003, where she taught first and fourth grade until 2013. Jacobsen then moved to Pope Elementary School for its inaugural year as a fourth grade teacher and also served as an ELAR instructional specialist. She then became an assistant principal at Sampson Elementary School in 2018 before moving to her current position at Smith in 2020.

In addition, Jacobsen has completed the New Administrators Institute, has served on various committees and was named Teacher of the Year at Pope for the 2014-2015 school year.

Jacobsen earned her Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from Texas Tech University and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University.
