Feb. 19, 2024—Jersey Village High School sophomore Gerardo Reyes De Leon is applauded by his teachers for being a dedicated student.

Accomplishments: Reyes is a member of the Jersey Village High School band where he marched in the UIL Area I Marching Band Contest. He also learned the entire marching band show in four days. Reyes is also a Solo and Ensemble medal holder.

Favorite class: “Engineering Design Presentation II. I love this class because I love creating and designing objects while also finding creative solutions for my projects if necessary.”

Favorite things to do after class: “After class I like to go home and either read my books or practice playing my saxophone.”

Favorite song: “Elevator by Nathan Kludt.”

Favorite website/app: “Clash Royale. It’s an online multiplayer strategy game. It’s my favorite because it requires critical thinking. It also helps me think of solutions faster since it can turn into a fast-paced game.”

Favorite TV show: “Naruto, because a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki is on his journey to become the head ninja of his village. I like this show because I can relate to it. I’m also on a journey to become what I aspire to be.”

Favorite movie: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie, because the movie is heartwarming and it inspires people to be persistent and not let anyone tell you what you can or can’t be.”

Ambition: “I aspire to be an engineer. I’ve always admired my dad and he is my inspiration.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I am really passionate about music, especially if it is about band. I really love playing my saxophone and I plan on playing for a long time.”

What inspires you?: “My mom and dad inspire me because they’re really successful. My brother also inspires me since I consider myself a role model for him. I want him to have a good example of what to be when he grows up and goes into the real world.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “First is food because I literally cannot live without nourishment. Second would be Wi-Fi since I need it to do homework. Third would be clothes so I can stay nice and clean.”
