Feb. 23, 2024—The Cypress Lakes High School and Cypress Springs High School girls’ basketball teams advanced past the region quarterfinal round of the UIL Class 6A playoffs to advance to the Region II-6A tournament in Lufkin.
Cypress Lakes defeated Klein Oak, 73-65, to advance to the regional tournament for the first time in program history.
Cypress Springs defeated Klein Collins, 75-51, to advance to the regional tournament for the second consecutive year.
The Cypress Springs High School girls’ basketball team defeated Klein Collins, 75-51, to advance to the Region II-6A tournament. The Panthers will meet Duncanville at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the Panther Activity Center in Lufkin.
The Panthers will meet Duncanville in the first Region II tournament semifinal at 5:30 p.m. The Spartans will face DeSoto in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be held at the Panther Activity Center (309 S. Medford Drive).
Both semifinal winners will meet at 1 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the championship game. The regional champion will earn a berth to the UIL Basketball State Championships, to be held Feb. 29-March 2 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Tickets for the Region II tournament are $10 each for adults and $5 each for students and will be sold at the door with card or cash.
