Feb. 22, 2024—Representatives from Open Door Pediatric Therapy visited the staff at Owens Elementary School on Feb. 19 to officially announce their Adopt-a-School partnership with the campus.

CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community organizations and business partners to utilize resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.

Amber Humphrey, owner, CEO and lead occupational therapist of Open Door Pediatric Therapy, shared that adopting Owens is not only a professional endeavor, but a personal one, too.

“As the owner, founder, CEO and lead occupational therapist at Open Door Pediatric Therapy, I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by teachers, faculty and students alike in our community,” Humphrey said. “With both my sisters dedicated to nurturing young minds at Owens Elementary School, I’ve seen the unwavering dedication of educators who often go above and beyond, despite limited resources. Our decision to adopt Owens stems from a heartfelt commitment to enhancing emotional regulation and sensory support in the classroom environment. Every child deserves a nurturing space to learn, grow and thrive and through this partnership, we aim to provide just that. At Open Door, we believe in dreaming big, then dreaming bigger. Together, with Open Door Pediatric Therapy’s expertise and passion, and the dedication of the Owens staff, we’re creating a brighter, more inclusive future for every student one heartbeat at a time.”

Dr. Amy Frank, Owens principal, expressed her gratitude to Open Door Pediatric Therapy for committing to help support the campus.

“Owens is thrilled to be adopted by Open Door Pediatric Therapy,” Dr. Frank said. “We look forward to working together to support our students, families and staff in the future.”
