Nov. 5, 2024—The Bridgeland, Cy-Fair and Cypress Woods high school marching bands will represent CFISD for the third consecutive year at the UIL State Marching Contest after being among the four ensembles selected to advance from the UIL Area I Marching Band Contest, held Nov. 2 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
Nov. 5, 2024—Charles Franklin, director of device imaging and inventory, was named CFISD’s new assistant superintendent of technology services on Oct. 30. Franklin replaces Paula Ross, who announced her retirement effective in December.
Nov. 4, 2024—The Bridgeland High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams, along with Cypress Creek High School junior Joaquin Miranda, competed at the UIL Cross Country State Championships on Nov. 1 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
Nov. 4, 2024—The District 16-6A and District 17-6A volleyball seasons ended on Oct. 29 with five CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL Class 6A playoffs.

Oct. 30, 2024—Nine CFISD middle schools productions placed and were recognized at the CFISD Middle School UIL One-Act Play contest, held Oct. 17, 22 and 25 at the Berry Center.
Oct. 30, 2024—Representatives from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center visited the Mark Henry, Ed.D Administration Building on Oct. 22 to recognize CFISD for providing 963 blood donations through blood drives held at CFISD schools and facilities.
Oct. 30, 2024—The Cypress Park High School Garden Club was recently selected to receive the Whole Kids Garden Grant from the Whole Kids Foundation worth $3,000 to help support the school’s campus garden. Cypress Park was chosen out of 1,200 applications.
Oct. 29, 2024—Bridgeland High School art students Shiruixue Fang and Cadence Rogers were selected as semifinalists in the Artist Renewal Center (ARC) International Salon competition. Because of this achievement, their work will be sent to the moon in the Polaris Collection of the Lunar Codex and will be preserved for generations.
Eric Willard’s animation course at Cypress Park High School has students flocking to his room adorned with murals of popular films from Disney, Pixar and Star Wars franchises. It’s not just the aesthetics that draw students in; it’s the popularity of animation.

Oct. 24, 2024—Twenty-three CFISD students have been cast in the Houston Repertoire Ballet’s 26th annual performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, featuring professional guest artists Léa Fleytoux as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Jake Roxander as the Cavalier, both of the American Ballet Theatre.
Oct. 23, 2024—Cypress-Fairbanks ISD received a rating of Superior by the Texas Education Agency (TEA)’s School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) program, announced in early August – marking the 22nd consecutive top rating for CFISD.

Two CFISD water polo teams advanced past the regional quarterfinal round of the Class 6A playoffs and move on to their respective regional tournaments, while the Cypress Ranch High School girls’ team and the boys’ teams from Cypress Creek and Cypress Ranch high schools concluded their seasons and finished as regional quarterfinalists.

The Bridgeland High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams won the District 16-6A titles at the Cross Country Championships, held Oct. 11 at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. For the Bridgeland boys and girls, this is their sixth and seventh consecutive team championships, respectively. Bridgeland’s cross country programs are currently ranked No. 3 in the state by the Country Coaches Association of Texas.

Fiest and Bang are the first CFISD elementary schools to receive a branded Cy-Fair FCU school spirit debit card.

Sept. 27, 2024—Community partner Cy-Fair Helping Hands (CFHH) hosted its third annual Back to School Bash on Aug. 3, resulting in nearly 1,500 attendees and more than 1,025 CFISD students receiving new backpacks filled with school supplies.
Eight CFISD students will have their artwork displayed at the prestigious Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA)/Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) fall convention on Sept. 27 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
In preparation for the school’s homecoming festivities Sept.16-20, Cypress Ranch High School advanced floral design students constructed a mum spanning 18 feet and 6 inches tall in less than three weeks. This is the first time a jumbo-sized mum has been created and displayed at Cypress Ranch.
Parents with children enrolled in bilingual or ESL classes at CFISD schools who want to learn English are invited to enroll in district-offered ESL classes for parents. The free classes are offered for three levels of English proficiency: Introduction, Beginner or Intermediate. Registration will take place at the school cafeterias on the first day of class.
